We ate our way through 9 restaurants and 4 bars in Kobe, from Royal Mouriya's teppanyaki counter to Main Malt's whisky wall. Every place we visited, tasted, and recommend.
Kobe in March was exactly the pilgrimage you'd hope: teppanyaki counters at Royal Mouriya and Aoyama where the beef is the whole sermon, then a bar street afterward — Main Malt's whisky wall, Puzzle's themed room — for digesting it all. Sorakuen garden earns a slow hour between meals.
It's an easy day trip from Osaka, but stay the night and do it properly. We visited 9 restaurants, 4 bars, and one excellent hotel, and every recommendation here is somewhere we actually ate.
