We ate our way through 22 restaurants in Kanazawa—from Ebisu Sushi to SHOGUN BURGER in the teahouse district. Real spots we tried, before the crowds catch on.
Kanazawa was our favorite discovery of a March trip through Japan — Kenroku-en garden in near-solitude, the samurai and ninja museums played completely straight, and a food scene (Ebisu Sushi, a burger joint in the teahouse district) that fed us like a city three times its size. Go before the crowds finish figuring it out.
We spent our days wandering between 22 restaurants, a couple of tucked-away bars like Music Bar Minshia, and the Ninja Weapon Museum. Every spot below is somewhere we actually ate, drank, or explored—nothing secondhand.
