We ate our way through Porto and mapped 12 restaurants, 2 cafés, and 1 shop we'd return to. Francesinhas by the river, pastel de nata runs, and La Salumeria's perfect lunch.
Porto in August was riverside francesinhas, port lodges across the Douro in Gaia, and pastel de nata quality control at every counter. Our list is small and cheerfully carb-forward — La Salumeria and Incontro for the sit-downs, Nata Lisboa for the custard tart pilgrimage, and Gazela when you need something fast and very Porto.
São João in June turns the whole city into a squeaky-hammer street party; March to May brings the river light and easier reservations at spots like Euskalduna Studio and Restaurante Antiqvvm.
