We ate and drank our way through Phoenix in October, hitting 9 bars and 7 restaurants including Century Grand's train-car cocktail dens and Steak 44. Visit fall through spring; skip summer.
Phoenix in October — finally walkable — gave us the Century Grand's bar-in-a-train-car (Grey Hen Rx, UnderTow) and steaks at 44 that justify the drive alone. Taco Guild serves inside a former church, which is very Arizona. November through March is the entire point; summer is for airport connections only.
