The World's Best Airports

Airports are where our trips actually live. Add up the layovers, the red-eyes, the gate sprints and the lounge naps, and we have spent months of our lives inside these buildings — 673 flights through 343 airports, by Flighty's count. So we ranked them: the ten airports we would happily fly through on purpose.

The first seven track Travel + Leisure's 2026 World's Best Awards, where readers scored Singapore Changi back on top of the world. The last three are our wildcards — Paris Charles de Gaulle, Rome Fiumicino and San Francisco — promoted from the rest of the internet's scorecards: the Skytrax World Airport Awards, Condé Nast Traveler's Readers' Choice Awards, UNESCO's Prix Versailles for the world's most beautiful terminals, and AirHelp's punctuality rankings. Every single gate on this list is one we have personally cleared — where T+L's picks went somewhere we haven't, we benched them for airports we know cold.

Each entry overlays what the world says (award tags from every list we could find) with what our logbook says: how many times we've flown it, on whom, through which terminals, and the small rituals that made us love it — the Rain Vortex after dark, falcons in the departure lounge at Doha, a 747-8 out of Seoul, and seventeen lifetime passes through San Francisco's prize-winning Harvey Milk Terminal.
