Into the Blue

Into the Blue

Three years, 91 descents, 24 seas — every one recorded by the dive computer. This story plays the whole logbook back as a single dive: the water darkens on the way down, and everything we met lives in the middle.

It starts where we were certified, on a sandbank atoll off Zanzibar, and runs through seven expedition legs: the Coral Triangle's sardine walls, a Caribbean winter of wrecks and cenotes, the atolls we kept returning to, the big Pacific crossing to Blue Corner and Majuro's sunken planes, and out to the edges of the map at Socotra and Nosy Be.

Along the way: the ten regulars of the reef ranked by how hard our hearts hit the regulator, the ten best descents with their exact minute-by-minute profiles, a record wall, and every one of the ninety-one dives drawn on a single shared depth scale.

At the end you surface the way every dive ends — three minutes held at fifteen feet, then light, then back on the boat.
