Privacy
Covers the not back yet site (notbackyet.com) and the companion iOS app · Last updated August 30, 2026
This is a personal travel site and companion app. There are no accounts, no ads, and nothing here is sold — including data about you. This page describes the little that does get processed, and where.
The Not Back Yet app
- No accounts, no tracking. The app has no sign-in, no advertising, and no third-party analytics SDKs. We collect no personal data from the app.
- Location stays on your phone. If you grant location access, it is used on-device to sort our saved places by distance and to show the city you're near. Your location is never transmitted to us or to anyone else, and the app works fine without it.
- Anonymous usage counts. When the app opens, and when you open a screen inside it, it sends us a short note saying so: the event, the screen's name, the app version, and whether you're on an iPhone or an iPad. Our server records the country the request came from. There is no device id, no install id, no account, and nothing that ties one note to another or back to you. It tells us which parts of the app people actually use. Kept 120 days, then deleted.
- Your stuff is local. Game scores, streaks, saved places, planned trips, and preferences are stored only on your device.
- Content downloads. The app fetches public content (photos, films, place notes, schedule data) from notbackyet.com, served through Cloudflare. Like any web request, this exposes your IP address to the server; routine server logs are kept briefly for security and debugging and are not used to identify anyone.
- Maps. Map views are rendered with Apple Maps (MapKit), so map tile requests are handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy.
The website
- Analytics. The site uses Google Analytics for aggregate visit statistics (which pages are read, roughly where visitors come from). We don't use this to identify individual visitors.
- Newsletter. If you subscribe, your email address is stored with our email provider (Resend) and used only to send the newsletter. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from the list.
