Two trips through Ubud — a January and a September — sorted the rice-terrace postcard from the eating underneath it: Ibu Mangku's nasi ayam banana-leaf parcels, Hujan Locale's modern-Indonesian rooms, and the Mandapa's river-valley cocoon when we wanted the volume turned down.
Dry season (April–October) keeps the ridge walks green and passable. We found six restaurants, one bar, and one hotel worth the notebook.
