We ate and drank our way through Torshavn: 5 restaurants including Ræst and Áarstova, 3 bars like OY Brewing and Mikkeller, 2 cafés, and the turf-roofed landmarks worth the rain.
Tórshavn in September was turf roofs, harbor rain, and cooking far better than 13,000 people should support. Ræst ferments the national pantry into a tasting menu, Áarstova does the lamb, and OY and Mikkeller pour the after.
The Faroes are the point—Tórshavn is the warm, woolly base for them. We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn, visited The Nordic House, and ate everywhere we could find. Waterproof everything.
