We visited 11 restaurants and 5 bars in Budapest, from Szimpla Kert's ruin bar chaos to GoodSpirit's whisky library and Tom George Osteria's Italian plates by the Danube.
Budapest in June gave us ruin bars and grand cafés in equal measure — Szimpla Kert once, for the spectacle, then GoodSpirit's whisky library for every night after. Fisherman's Bastion at sunrise beats the daytime queue, and the Gresham Palace is the stay if you're going to do the Danube properly.
We covered 11 restaurants, 5 bars, 2 spas, and a handful of museums across both sides of the river. Trattoria Pomo D'Oro and Tom George became our reliable stops between Parliament walks and thermal bath afternoons.
