Lake Bled in May is exactly the screensaver, and it still beats expectations in person: the island church, the clifftop castle, kremšnita cream cake as a civic duty. Our list runs casual — Rustika's pizzas, burgers by the lake at Promenada and Mega Burger, Oštarija Peglez'n's hearty plates — because the setting is the main course.
