We ate our way through 4 restaurants and 2 bars in Baku, from pomegranate plov at Dolma to cocktails with Flame Tower views. Plus the Heydar Aliyev Center and Old City.
Baku in August was plov and pomegranate at Dolma, the Flame Towers doing their nightly light show, and Zaha Hadid's Heydar Aliyev Center looking like it landed from another decade. The old city's Shirvanshahs' Palace grounds the sci-fi skyline.
We spent our days between MALACANNES and Mari Vanna, evenings at Barfly Social Hub and FOMO, and every meal reminding us why Baku's restaurant scene deserves more attention. Spring and autumn dodge both the summer heat and the Caspian wind.
